Relevant Experience:

Lead Instructor, Houston Community College Horticulture Department, 1990-1996

            Developed and implemented 3 new course offerings;

            Scheduled and staffed all courses;

            Supervised 2 staff members;

            Managed budget for equipment and supplies;

            Planned and conducted 2 yearly public information seminars

Instructor of Biology, Houston Community College, 1996-2008

            Courses taught; Biology 1406, 1407, 2401, 2402, 1411 and 1413;

            Department contact person for construction of new laboratory facilities;

            Adjunct faculty supervisor at the Katy Campus;

            Participant, Academic Challenge, Title V and Texas Collaborative for Teaching

            Excellence programs;

            Key planner and participant, NASA Zero Gravity Program, 2001

Division Chair, Department of Biological Sciences and Physical Education, Houston Community College NW, 2008 to present

            Provides leadership for Department of Biological Sciences and Physical Education as

            well as and continuity between faculty, staff and administration;

            Schedules classes, hires, assigns and evaluates full time and adjunct instructors;

            Manages the Departmental budgets and the oversight of faculty and staff compensation;

            Resolves issues dealing with student concerns;

            Helps organize, lead and participate in College and District wide initiatives such as

            grants and conferences. Key planner/organizer in securing workshop speakers for 2009

            Chancellor’s Energy Symposium;

            At present, the Biology and PHED Departments includes 11 full time faculty, 3 full time

            staff, 5 part time staff, and 31 adjunct instructors. Sustained growth in enrollment is

            expected to continue;

            Among a cohort of 14 individuals selected to participate in HCC Leadership Excellence

            Institute for 2010.
